    My writing has been recognized for its voice. I've been influenced by both minimalist painters (Miro, Rothko) & maximalist fiction writers like David Foster Wallace. Still, my first love was the short story (Morrison, Poe).

    I've taught college writing for 26 years. My teaching focuses not so much on "topics" but on "real people in real life." This is where stories get interesting & problem solving emerges in its shiny potential.

    This is where I humblebrag about my connection to the Sundance Film Festval. It's been my honor to manage a theater during the festival since 2002. I introduce the films and lead the Q & A. I'm the ambiance whisperer.

    DIY Digital Filmmaking

    I taught myself how to make short films. I had to. I love it. Many of my experimental shorts and documentaries have screened at national conferences and have been published in peer reviewed journals.
